The Community Guidelines

Welcome to The Community

The Community is a place to learn, connect and support one another through every stage of the surrogacy journey.

Whether you’re just starting to explore surrogacy, hoping to become a surrogate, pursuing parenthood through surrogacy, or supporting someone else, we want everyone to feel welcome here.

We know that surrogacy can be emotional, exciting, confusing and sometimes challenging. This is a space where people can ask questions, share experiences and learn from one another in a respectful and supportive environment.

To help keep The Community safe and welcoming for everyone, we ask all members to follow these simple guidelines.

1. Be kind and respectful

Treat others as you would like to be treated.

Everyone comes to The Community with different experiences, opinions and knowledge. Healthy discussion is encouraged, but personal attacks, rude behaviour, bullying, discrimination or harassment will not be tolerated.

Disagree with ideas if you need to—but always treat people with kindness and respect.

2. This is not a matching community

One of the most important principles of SurrogacyUK is that relationships develop naturally through friendship.

Please do not:

  • ask someone to become your surrogate or intended parent
  • advertise yourself as looking for a surrogate or intended parent
  • use posts or comments to recruit team members
  • privately message members
  • encourage conversations that are intended to lead to matching

Any attempt to use The Community for matching purposes may result in posts being removed and could lead to removal from The Community or SurrogacyUK membership.

If you’re unsure whether something is appropriate, please ask the team first.

3. Protect everyone’s privacy

Please respect the privacy of others.

Don’t share someone else’s personal information, screenshots or conversations without their permission.

Remember that many people are sharing deeply personal experiences.

4. Keep discussions supportive

Questions are always welcome.

No one is expected to know everything, and today’s question may help someone else tomorrow.

If you’re offering advice, try to share your own experiences while recognising that everyone’s journey is different.

5. Share experiences, not medical or legal advice

Members are welcome to share their personal experiences.

However, discussions should never replace advice from qualified medical, legal or financial professionals.

If you’re unsure, we’ll always encourage you to seek appropriate professional advice.

6. Help us keep The Community safe

If you see behaviour that concerns you, please report it to the moderation team rather than responding publicly.

We’re here to help, and we’d much rather resolve concerns early than allow situations to escalate.

7. We may moderate discussions

Our moderation team may edit, move or remove posts that don’t follow these guidelines.

Where possible, we’ll explain why we’ve taken action.

Repeated or serious breaches of these guidelines may result in suspension or removal from The Community or SurrogacyUK membership.
