About us
A group of experienced surrogates formed SurrogacyUK in 2002, who believed that a successful journey for both surrogates and intended parent(s) is one based on trust, mutual respect and, above all, friendship.
In 2011, SurrogacyUK incorporated as a not-for-profit company and, today, is run as a professional organisation governed by a board of directors and run by a dedicated team of staff who are committed to ethical surrogacy and the friendship first vision of those few surrogates so many years ago. An external ethics committee advises and supports SurrogacyUK’s board and management team on its ethical obligations and best practices.
Since 2002 SurrogacyUK has grown to include over 1,700 members including intended parents, surrogates, known egg donors and parents-through-surrogacy who remain members to celebrate the special way their child came into the world.
SurrogacyUK continues to thrive, with over 450* babies born since it began, the ethos of “friendship first” that began with a handful of surrogates so many years ago continues to resonate strongly with those interested in surrogacy.

Professional
Organisation
SurrogacyUK is a professional organization supporting you throughout your surrogacy journey. We provide comprehensive assistance, from connecting with a potential teammate to supervised agreement sessions and ongoing support during and after pregnancy. Our robust systems ensure a smooth process.
Additionally, we advocate for our members with employers, the Department of Work and Pensions, CAFCASS, hospital staff, midwives, GPs, fertility clinics, and family courts. SurrogacyUK is always available to offer expert help when needed.
Personal Experience
All of our board members, staff, support workers and volunteers have first-hand experience of surrogacy. This gives our professionals a unique and necessary understanding of surrogacy on a personal basis.
This means they are better equipped to deal with those undergoing surrogacy, providing an experienced and compassionate perspective. They all have a passion for ethical, altruistic surrogacy and this shows through the exceptional quality of their work with our members.

Commitment to
Ethical Surrogacy
SurrogacyUK’s guiding mission is “To create, complete and support families through ethical surrogacy”. It shapes the way we run the organisation, and is an ever-present consideration when making key decisions.
SurrogacyUK believe and will always believe in altruistic surrogacy only. We will never advocate for commercial surrogacy in the UK and we believe that it is unethical for any organisation or person to profit through surrogacy.
Not for Profit
SurrogacyUK is a not-for-profit organisation. All of our revenue is reinvested in the organisation to improve our members’ experiences and surrogacy journeys.
Our community activities – frequent social events and peer-to-peer support – are delivered by our members on a voluntary basis.
We pay a small number of staff fairly to fulfil core functions, but our board and ethics committee members all work voluntarily, such is their passion for surrogacy.
